It sure does look like at least one cheque for the down payment was taken from the taxpayers. Everything about that is wrong. The Free Press articles say that this is coming out now because the mayor is not paying a more recent bill and the Marconi Club is chasing him to pay it. Maybe people there have just gotten sick of being taken by a rich man who has to be chased to pay his bills. Anyone who knows about the past cheques from the Canadian taxpayers probably has had a bad taste in their mouths for many years. It is a good thing that this has come out at last and does not mean that people at the Marconi Club are doing anything wrong. The only wrong might be that they did not come out with this sooner. The mayor is probably wishing that he had paid the recent bill promptly. Why does this rich man not want to pay his bills like the rest of us have to do?Bill Payernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-460062076455326962.post-60819202608928272002012-10-22T08:47:35.313-04:002012-10-22T08:47:35.313-04:00Fontana isn't the sharpest tool in the shed.

I doubt he knows how to count back change from a twenty.<br /><br />The Marconi Club benefited from this. They are a charity. Maybe the Fontana's agreed to rent the club for the reception only if it had some updates and renovations, like a new stainless steel kitchen, bathrooms or floors or something that the charity was eligible for a refund and required a work permit to be issued and signed by Joe. That's called working the system and if the Marconi Club didn't use the money for a charitable purpose, then Joe's a scapegoat and that club is committing welfare fraud.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-460062076455326962.post-9411874649420160642012-10-22T02:20:17.438-04:002012-10-22T02:20:17.438-04:00As I understand it, The London Free Press has copi...As I understand it, The London Free Press has copies of the initial contract, one federal government payment stub and the invoice for the down payment of $1,700.<br /><br />The invoice and payment for the outstanding balance of $18,900 is based on the word of the former manager of the Marconi Club, not copies in possession of the LFP.<br /><br />Damning evidence, nonethelessAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-460062076455326962.post-91933205563809582032012-10-22T00:39:38.161-04:002012-10-22T00:39:38.161-04:00Next, he'll be proroguing city council.Next, he'll be proroguing city council.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-460062076455326962.post-44971879558798599352012-10-22T00:11:42.394-04:002012-10-22T00:11:42.394-04:00"The way he is dancing around the issue no ma..."The way he is dancing around the issue no matter the outcome, I have lost faith in his integrity, and ability to lead this city,” tweeted one, a sentiment shared by many others."<br /><br />I agree with this statement.
