Temporary construction jobs and temporary minimum wage retail jobs. Those jobs will trickle away just like they did at the "next generation" shopping complex directly across the 401. The only thing there now tumbleweeds. Besides, London is NOT going to turn around by adding a few hundred minimum wage jobs anyway.

This project is a HORRIBLE idea. London already has a glut of commercial space with vacancies everywhere. Yet we're about to add an enormous amount of retail around Lambeth, retail that will suck whatever potential stores PenEquity might have attracted. This project is destined for failure.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-460062076455326962.post-14852930584978089552013-09-02T13:03:50.442-04:002013-09-02T13:03:50.442-04:00Courage shown by Judy Bryant. When they sell out is it more disgusting because they are smart enough to know what they are doing. People tell me that Joe Swan used to be a community kind of person. What happened to him? Maybe this Joe Swan is the evil twin that we never knew existed and the old one is locked up somewhere.

If only Bill Armstrong was not so happy to jump on board the Fontana 8 train of shame. What is this guy getting out of selling out the ideas that he used to stand for. Hopefully a good candidate in his ward will run next election. Someone other then Polhill junior. Mayor Fontana never fails to disappoint.

Denise Brown held firm on this and has not caved in to her former buddies. That deserves respect. Courage shown by Harold Usher, Joni Beachler and Nancy Branscombe. As usual. If only one of these would run for mayor instead of one of the sell outs.

Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-460062076455326962.post-16432522524561259942013-08-30T16:34:05.855-04:002013-08-30T16:34:05.855-04:00I am heartsick about this whole thing. Oh I'm sorry but the buses don't run out there, and you can just bet your backside to a bunch of dollar bills that every job posted will say. "Must have OWN transportation". WAKE up people WAKE UP before it is too late. I for one have had enough of the forsaken "dark ages" city, that cares more about $$$$$$ than people. First opportunity I get I want to leave. (and I'm not even one of the "youngers" I'm an older). As for Mayorship, given what this council is like I wouldn't vote for any but TWO if they chose to run for mayor. Branscombe OR Baechler. They are the only two who seem to have any intelligence, have their head screwed on straight and actually seem to think they work for ME...the lowly little citizen.Chris McDonaldhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12910373469442823685noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-460062076455326962.post-74369490093610799502013-08-30T15:30:09.853-04:002013-08-30T15:30:09.853-04:00The city bought Sprucedale Woods (7.7 h) from a de...The city bought Sprucedale Woods (7.7 h) from a developer for $700,000. The compensation holding provision is for the city to get $$ from PenEquity to buy 6 times was is being cut down (4.2 h). Do the math. Even at $100K per h, that is $2.5 million, 10 x what PenEquity offered at the June planning cte meeting. It remains to be seen if they will pay that and if not, will Council cave and let them off the hook for less?Sandy Levinnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-460062076455326962.post-7713822615202040712013-08-30T12:36:32.707-04:002013-08-30T12:36:32.707-04:00I think what got lost in this whole discussion is ...I think what got lost in this whole discussion is that if PenEquity didn't get its way, the land stays there and either they build with the woods and wetland there, or they sell it to someone who will. Listening to the debate, it was as if this was the last and only chance.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-460062076455326962.post-64125002988826700262013-08-30T10:59:55.306-04:002013-08-30T10:59:55.306-04:00And with no way to confirm any of the numbers that...And with no way to confirm any of the numbers that got thrown around, we are stuck with a bunch of clowns who don't understand what they are doing. Imagine a Council full of Joni's and Nancy's. Oh wait, we had one with Barber on it to. And the public voted in Henderson? What were they thinking? Please watch council and committee meetings before you vote again. Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
